US Retail Sales
US Retail Sales report is released by US Census
Bureau at one of the date from 10th to 15th of every month. The
purpose of this report is to provide advance estimates of US retail
and food services sales for the past one month.
The changes in Retail Sales are widely followed
because it is an indicator of consumer spending. This economic
indicator is widely used and closely watched by financial analysts
and market research firms to analyze market trends and to determine
the direction of the economy. Businesses use the estimates to
measure how they are performing and predict future demand for their
products.
Instead of looking at the monthly actual sales
figure, the percent changes of the retail sales figure as compared
to the previous month is being observed as it reflects the rate of
change of the retail sales.
Hence, A high reading in percentage is seen as
positive or bullish for the USD, while a low reading in percentage
is seen as negative or bearish.
